Seth Sims is a native of Rapid City South Dakota. He was born with glaucoma.  He attended and graduated from the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. After graduation he moved to Sioux Falls where he started employment at Delighted Industries which was later changed to South Dakota Industries for the Blind. He worked as an assembler, working his way up to supervisor. He was there for 23 years before leaving to work as a phone customer service rep for Lowe’s. He left there after his sight worsened and decided to get additional training at the Rehabilitation Center for the Blind. He has helped do construction work (laying floors, shingling, etc.) for a friend that is a contractor. He does landscape work for friends and for his own yard. He volunteers making little cars for nonprofit group- Toys for God’s Children. He serves as 2nd vice president for South Dakota Association of the Blind (SDAB).

He married Koni Raap in 1987. They live in Sioux Falls. In his spare time he enjoys reading, woodworking, gardening, exercising.
